Donation or Gift Registry Terms

These Donation or Gift Registry Terms apply when the Platform allows a Guest, visitor or other contributor to make a cash gift, donation contribution, registry contribution, wedding gift, honeymoon contribution, event contribution or similar payment in connection with an event page.

These Terms must be read with the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and any payment gateway terms. If a contribution is made through an external registry or third-party website, that external provider's terms may also apply.

5.2 Nature of contributions

Unless expressly stated otherwise, contributions made through Gatherlane are personal gifts or contributions to the relevant Event Owner or nominated recipient. They are not charitable donations, investments, deposits, loans, insurance products, trust funds, securities, crowdfunding investments or financial products.

Gatherlane does not verify the personal circumstances, relationship status, event purpose, use of funds or financial need of Event Owners unless expressly stated. Contributors must satisfy themselves before making a contribution.

5.3 Event Owner responsibilities

• provide accurate and not misleading information about the event, registry purpose and payment request;
• only request contributions for lawful purposes;
• not represent contributions as charitable donations or tax-deductible donations unless the Event Owner is lawfully authorised to do so and has provided the required disclosures;
• promptly update Guests if the event is cancelled, postponed, materially changed or if the purpose of the contribution changes;
• provide correct payout and identity information where required;
• co-operate with refund, chargeback, fraud, compliance or dispute enquiries; and
• use contribution features in a manner that does not mislead Guests or expose Gatherlane to legal, regulatory, payment or reputational risk.

5.4 Contributor responsibilities

• check the event page, recipient, amount, currency, fees and payment details before paying;
• ensure that the contribution is voluntary and authorised by the cardholder or account holder;
• understand that contributions may be non-refundable after successful processing or payout, subject to the Refund Policy and applicable law;
• contact Gatherlane promptly if there is an error, duplicate payment, suspected fraud or unauthorised transaction; and
• not use the contribution feature for unlawful payments, money laundering, sanctions evasion, fraud, harassment or any prohibited purpose.

5.5 Payment processing and fees

Contributions may be processed by a third-party payment gateway. The gateway may charge processing fees, apply fraud checks, set settlement timelines, refuse transactions, reverse payments or require additional verification.

Gatherlane may charge platform fees, service fees or administrative fees in relation to contribution features, provided those fees are disclosed before payment.

5.6 Payouts to Event Owners or recipients

• Payouts may be made to the Event Owner or nominated recipient after successful payment settlement and completion of required verification.
• Payouts may be delayed, withheld, reversed or set off where there is suspected fraud, legal restriction, payment gateway hold, incorrect payout details, unresolved dispute, chargeback, refund request, event cancellation, breach of terms or regulatory concern.
• Gatherlane may require identity, bank account, event, business or compliance information before releasing payouts.
• Event Owners are responsible for any tax, reporting or legal obligations relating to contributions received.

5.7 Refunds and reversals

Contributions are generally not refundable once successfully processed or paid out, unless the Refund Policy, the Event Owner's written approval, the payment gateway rules or applicable law requires otherwise.

Gatherlane may approve or facilitate a refund or reversal where there is a duplicate payment, obvious mistake, unauthorised transaction, suspected fraud, cancelled event, payment gateway error, legal requirement or written agreement from the Event Owner before payout. Non-recoverable platform fees, gateway fees and bank charges may be deducted where the law allows.

5.8 Chargebacks and negative balances

If a contribution is charged back, reversed or refunded after payout, the Event Owner or recipient must repay the relevant amount and lawful associated fees on demand. Gatherlane may deduct the amount from future payouts, suspend contribution features or restrict the event page until the matter is resolved.

5.9 External gift registries and third-party links

The Platform may link to external gift registries, stores, accommodation providers, travel providers or payment pages. Gatherlane does not control external providers and is not responsible for their stock, delivery, refunds, warranties, pricing, data practices or service quality. Contributors must read the external provider's terms before using those services.

5.10 No tax advice and no charitable receipt

Gatherlane does not provide tax, financial or legal advice to Event Owners, Contributors or recipients. Unless expressly stated by a registered and authorised organisation, Gatherlane will not issue charitable donation certificates, section 18A receipts or equivalent tax receipts.

5.11 Suspicious or prohibited contributions

Gatherlane may refuse, reverse, suspend or report contributions where it reasonably suspects fraud, money laundering, sanctions risk, unlawful fundraising, abuse, misleading conduct, payment card misuse, prohibited goods or services, or any breach of the Platform terms.

5.12 Privacy

Contribution-related personal information may be processed for payment processing, fraud prevention, confirmations, receipts, payout reconciliation, customer support, refunds, chargebacks, legal compliance and record keeping. Contributors should read the Privacy Policy for details about how personal information is processed.

5.13 Changes to contribution features

Gatherlane may change, suspend or discontinue contribution features where required for operational, payment, security, legal, regulatory or commercial reasons. Gatherlane will take reasonable steps to avoid unnecessary disruption to confirmed transactions.
